minh

I met Minh-Tam Tran for the first time at the AEPUM 2008 Wine & Cheese when he noticed my attempt at getting a candid shot of him kissing his girlfriend a few months back. Ever since then, he has quickly become a good friend and an inspiring source of knowledge on networking as well as team and project management. For more information, check out his blog at : http://minhtamtran.wordpress.com

Minh is an enthusiastic and sociable fellow who is always keen on meeting new people and trying out new experiences. Although he dresses professionally (as you can see above), he still remains extremely approachable. Over the past few months, he has hooked me up with some pretty nice contacts and this “corporate portrait” of him was a way of returning the favor.

This shot was taken using the studio equipment available at MUPS - the McGill Undergraduate Photography Society.

  • A softbox was placed on Camera left at almost 90 degrees as the main light
  • A  shoot-through umbrella was used as a fill on camera right.
  • A snooted light was set-up to be the kicker but I’m not too sure it went off in this particular shot…

As for the actual shot itself, I was busy leaning over him… while standing on a wobbly stool =)
