Welcome!

I have recently decided to keep and maintain a blog that that does not solely focus on my job of photography but rather as a place where I can share my experiences with those that are interested. I plan on updating this blog regularly with either informative posts or inspiring pictures. All comments are welcome!

First post in about 3 weeks, sorry about the absence guys, some big changes happening in my life… I'll get around to annoucing them soon :)

Ariel from OneSum contacted me about a couple months back looking for a photographer to help him come up with a crazy photo concept for the MSN network sponsored by Ford. The idea was to come up with a setup that was crazy enough to stand out and to produce exceptional results with only 10 minutes of shooting time.

If you guys are interested to see the ridiculous setup which involved me sitting on top of a couple 2×4s laid down between two 16 foot ladders … click here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150324730733515&set=a.379553213514.159018.277965913514&type=3&theater

Here's the final video they produced - An interview of what it's like to be a model - http://lifestylized.ca.msn.com/en-ca/videos/archive/all/1

After I submitted my shots to Alex & Sandra, they came back to me with : "Hey Ben, the shots are absolutely fantastic but… we think it's missing some surreal in it which is something we really liked about your work… Do you think there's anything to make them have a little more??" So I whiped out the photoshop brush and lit up each windowpane to create this whole surreal feeling.

Unfortunately this part isn't featured on our BTS video (thanks to http://fstoppers.com/ for reposting and getting us over 4000 views!) but really nothing super complicated about it… some screen blending, radial blur, and a lot of layers.

Alex & Sandra are a pair of amazing tango dancers that contacted me for a photoshoot for a project they're currently building.

We were looking to create something that was both traditional yet contemporary and this is what we came up with - Studio Lighting, Low depth of field and a cold purple/blue color tone.

More of the shots coming up soon :)

One of my girlfriend's favorite shots for some reason… maybe the curves, or lines or shadows? what are your thoughts?

Last Sunday I had the wonderful opportunity of going to shoot these wonderful creations of Jocelyne in the woods. This was the first time they had ever had the opportunity to shoot outdoors! Despite rain warnings, we decided to shoot anyways since the weather here in Montreal is fast getting cold!

Things went as smoothly as they possibly could and we managed to gather a pretty huge crowd of onlookers as you can see in the behind the scene footage.

The craftmanship of these hand made birds was absolutely fantastic and it was impressive to see how much detail went into the design. Go check out Jocelyne's website to learn more about these fantastic creatures: http://www.leschasseursdereves.com/fr /

Behind the Scenes video footage coming soon!

Day before halloween… figured I'd throw another web filled image at you guys! Since I had such wonderful feedback on my last shot I figured I'd give you guys another one.

I really like the effect that my cheap 4$ worth of spiderwebs got me …

I've been asked a couple times why I don't simply throw up single shots of this wonderful contortionist and well… I like being different! :)

Enjoy~
