Hey guys !

Here are the results from a shoot we did for the fstoppers 2011 BTS video contest !

The pictures turned out, despite the problems and mishaps we had to face during the shooting.

For this shoot I wanted to take things a little farther than usual… so I shot a stuntman performing sunt combos on motorcycle… but of course just that wouldnt do it… sooo we lit him on fire !!

L'Union de Feu de Montreal (Fire Union) organized a show a first ever show that grouped together more than 20 fire artisans together to perform. (Event: http://montrealenfeu.ca/en/home.html)

The above shot is 1 of the 136 photographs that were finally chosen that night - for those that wish to see the full album, please check out this link: http://vonwong.com/albums/montrealenfeu/

Charles Ferguson, the artist featured in the above shot was one of the many artists that performed that night. He was also the one that managed to light his own head on fire in the midst of the show!! The above shot is actually almost SooC (Straight out of Camera), a testament to the skill of these talented artists.

Unfortunately, there are many shots I would have wanted to improve on but varying light conditions and unpredictable rapid movements took away many a potentially breathtaking shot. Enjoy the album and let me know what you think!

Another picture of Romy actually spitting out fire.
 
Turns out that it's really hard to have a sexy expression while spitting fire… but the massive flames that spurt out between her lips seem to make up for all of it.

For those of you who hadn't guessed, the dragon was actually added in photoshop after having been created using this fancy drawing tool HERE.

Shot with the crazy ninja-designer-makeup artist - fire dancing - kia screaming Romy Noel in an abandonned building.

All in all, the shoot went well. Those who follow me on facebook already know now that all didn't go according to plan when Romy started spitting out fireballs…. which resulted in an entire squad of firemen and three seperate patrols of police officer (including one very cute blond I must mention) that arrested us for… well, breaking and entering as well as spitting little balls of happiness into the air.

That being said, our awesome charm and fantastic good looks got us through without so much as a ticket.

Shot with the indispensable help of Julius Adarna  (who even stands by me as we get arrested),

Lighting wise, there was a 3 light setup in place to freeze the shot in place. The camera was placed on a tripod and panned during the shot to enlarge the effect of the fire while Romy was dancing.

Title: Twin streams of death

Hybride Koide, a talented tattoo artist (check out his work HERE!) actually had the brilliant idea to use the water on the ground to create some pretty mirror images and by lighting various parts of the hall selectively using a combination of speedlights I was able to light most of the symmetry of the abandonned warehouse !

In order to get the perfect mirror effect, I had to lie down flat on my belly on the disgusting debris covered wet floor!

I wasn't really sure which picture to put up next but this one just had a pretty awesome fire graffiti look that I haven't quite seen around. If I had the choice, I'd try doing this against a solid background to put in some surreal futuristic scene with awesome cyborgs or something rather than having a constant abandonned graffiti background…

That being said, the graffiti is friggin awesome so… Enjoy =)
